We are not meant to stay still.
To remain unchanging, throughout our lifetime.
If so, why grow?
Why learn?
Why try?
If we are to attain a measure of success
By our definition...
Why does the joy of it not last forever?
So we can be content...
And stay still.
But a lot of the time
We find we are not.
We are taught to
"Grow up!"
"Take responsibility"
"Get good grades"
"Get a job"
"Keep going"
If this movement, this pursuit of 'something' has been trained into us from our earliest years
How then can we slow down?
Calm down?
Reach contentment?
How then can we stay still and not rush?
To us to stay still almost feel like failure
Or like death.
And we don't want to die
We don't want to fail.
So... we... rush... on.
