Self love doesn't mean a perpetual space of self adoration, while ignoring everyone else.

It involves taking care of oneself. Acknowledging the best and worst parts of us. Knowing how human we are and that we need attention.

This results in us filling our cups so full that we are happy to help others. We have compassion for ourselves in our struggles and it helps us to be compassionate to others when they are struggling.

Self care is of benefit to more than just us. This is the action that self love generates.

It benefits everyone we come in contact with.

It keeps us fueled up to reach out and help others find ways to care for themselves, and in turn we learn more about caring for ourselves, which continues to feed the cycle.

If we keep our eyes constantly in a mirror looking at ourselves alone we are bound to collide into a wall.

Wake up!

We need to love and care for ourselves but what's the use if it makes us horrible people to be around?
