This morning was one that followed on from the distraction that was the day before.

It was full off detours.

Now, I often find out the reason for any of the detours I have had to experience. But today's diversions I am not sure if or when I will find out what is responsible for them.

There were some little ones: Cracking an egg and a piece falling to the floor which has a similar colouring so it got lost like a needle in a needle stack.

Going into my son's room for some extra towels stored there but finding something else to return to its place and leaving to my own bathroom. Then remembering the towels. So I had to go back to his room to get them.

These were weird but I figured I must be distracted.

Fine.

But what was really telling of a 'slow down and wait' detour was when driving out from my parked spot I felt a stiffness in the steering wheel which prompted me to get out of the car and check my tyres. Lo and behold the front passenger side was low and almost out of air.

I went into my trunk to retrieve my tyre inflator and contacted my husband and boss to tell them what was happening.

After a long while of waiting for the tyre to inflate, it got to what I deemed as drivable inflation and I disconnected the inflator. It seemed to me that the tyre was deflating as I was looking at it. Deciding that I would take the chance to drive to the close by tyre shop, I quickly got into the car and made my way there.

When I arrived and looked at the tyre, it looked the same as when I last looked at it before I drove away.

I went to find help inside the shop and was assisted in getting it checked. The man who took the tire off to check it came back after a long while smiling and saying he couldn't find and issue with the tyre.

You could imagine that I felt like a mad hatter.

"Really!" I exclaimed "Nothing?"

"What about where it's sealed to the rim?"

"Nothing there either" He replied "That's why it was taking a while for me to come back. I was checking everywhere."

I looked at him and blinked.

I thanked him for his help. He offered to check the other tyre and it too was fine.

I was still in shocked when I left.

But, after a while I accepted that this delay I was experiencing was perhaps for a reason I have yet to learn of and perhaps never will.

These type of insane, illogical moments perhaps serve to protect us, warn us or teach us something we wouldn't otherwise learn.

It would be similar to the subtle aches and pains in our bodies as it sends us its message that something's not quite how it should be.

Of course, this is completely hypothetical and I have no evidence of this.

These are my thoughts after having a very strange start to the day.

Whatever it is, I am taking heed to slow down a bit and observe.

That said... I may have to learn the slowing down part again.

And trust it will be subtle, but received then.

Have you ever experienced a moment that your couldn't explain?

What did you do?

Did it leave a mark in your mind about the experience?
